Elon Musk reveals plans to turn X, formerly known as Twitter, into a dating app...

Digital Desk: Elon Musk, the enigmatic billionaire entrepreneur, revealed his vision for the future of Twitter, declaring that the micro-blogging platform is set to evolve into a "full-fledged" dating application by the year 2024. The announcement was made during a video call which was also hosted by CEO Linda Yaccarino, according to insiders cited by The Business Insider.

In addition to the dating application, Musk mentioned Twitter's expansion into the world of digital banking, without providing specific details on how these services would be integrated.

This revelation aligns with Musk's long-term plans for Twitter, as disclosed in a Verge report from the previous year. At the time, he expressed his desire to turn Twitter into a bank, envisioning features like high-yield money market accounts, debit cards, checks, and loans for its users.

In Musk's view, Twitter will offer an alternative to the traditional, "complex and expensive" banking systems. He aims to create a high-yield money market account to make having a Twitter balance the most profitable financial option. Users with positive account balances will enjoy higher interest rates, while those with negative balances will be subject to reduced interest charges.

Twitter, under Musk's ownership, has already begun experimenting with monetization strategies, including an $8 subscription service for obtaining the coveted blue verification badge, a symbol introduced in 2009 to protect celebrities from impersonation.

As Twitter navigates this transformation, users and investors will be eagerly watching to see how the platform evolves into a dynamic dating service and a modern digital banking solution by the ambitious target year of 2024.
