Digital Desk: The Dibrugarh District Administration on Thursday carried out an eviction drive from Kacharighat to Mallypatty near the Brahmaputra river bank in Dibrugarh, Assam. The officials demolished at least 40 illegal huts with JCB in these areas. The owners of these huts were occupying the lands without any documents.

Dibrugarh ASP (HQ) Nirmal Ghosh spoke to the reporters and said that the administration received several complaints of illegal activities in these areas, which led to the eviction drive in the illegally encroached area.

He added that the drive will continue in the areas where people have illegally occupied government lands.

A resident of the area said that illegal activities were running in the area but nobody took action against it. The Dibrugarh Administration evicted these people earlier due to erosion but they again built their huts. So drives should be continued to evict such people permanently.
