Digital Desk: African Swine Fever has been found in Rupdiga village in the Bajali district, Assam, which is concerning news for pork lovers.

The issue came to light when Pulak Kalita, a resident of Rupdiga, noticed symptoms of the disease in his pigs.

At the direction of the Bajali district administration, a team of veterinary specialists then proceeded to the site.

The pigs were sampled and sent to a testing lab in Guwahati. The existence of African Swine Fever was officially confirmed by the Animal Husbandry Department.

The District Commissioner responded by enforcing stringent measures under Section 163 of the Indian Penal Code. To stop the disease from spreading, authorities have mandated that infected pigs within a 10-kilometer radius be culled and properly buried.

To combat this dangerous and highly contagious disease, the sale and purchase of pork in Bajali remains strictly prohibited until further notice.
