Digital Desk: The Manipur government banned the consumption of pork products on October 25 after new cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) were discovered, causing financial hardship for many pig breeders, stated an official.

According to the statement, the ASF disease, which was first restricted to Imphal city, has spread to other districts around the state.

However, in the second week of this month, the lethal sickness was discovered at Central Agricultural University in Imphal. Later, the disease spread to Manipur's valley regions and some of its hill districts.

Because of the spread of sickness, the government has already notified that consumption of meat products from piggery enterprises has been halted throughout the state.

The ailment was discovered in a Bishnupur district enterprise, according to the district administration. The Thoubal district government has also declared the disease is taking hold throughout the district.
