The BSP leader stated that while the UP government should now launch a caste census or survey right away in accordance with public opinion,

Digital Desk: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati requested on Tuesday that the Uttar Pradesh government begin the caste census immediately, despite opposition from other parties. She claimed that this was the only way to provide justice for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

"The news of the caste census data conducted by the Bihar government being made public is in the news today and intense discussions are going on on it. Some parties are uncomfortable with this, but for BSP this is the first step in the long struggle for the constitutional rights of OBCs," Mayawati said in her post on X.

According to her, BSP is pleased that the nation's politics is changing in a way that benefits the underrepresented "Bahujan Samaj," which has caused even the most virulent "anti-caste" and "anti-Mandal" groups to express concern for their future.

The BSP leader stated that while the UP government should now launch a caste census or survey right away in accordance with public opinion, "the right solution will be found only when the central government conducts the caste census at the national level and gives them their due rights."

OBCs and EBCs make up 63% of the state's total population, according to data from a much-anticipated caste survey issued on Monday by the Bihar government of Nitish Kumar.

The Extremely Backward Classes, which included 36% of Bihar's total population, were the largest social group, followed by the Other Backward Classes, who comprised 27.13% of the state's entire population.
