Digital Desk: A 24-year-old woman air hostess was found dead in her apartment in Mumbai late on Sunday. The accused was arrested by Powai police a day later, who worked as a cleaner in a private housekeeping firm.

The deceased, Rupal Ogrey was found dead late Sunday night at her apartment in Mumbai's suburban Andheri, a police official stated. He said, She was from Chhattisgarh and moved to Mumbai in April for training with Air India.

Police identified the accused as Vikram Atwal. Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalawade said, "We have arrested an accused who works with a private housekeeping firm as a cleaner, based on technical evidence. We are further interrogating him to get more details about the murder and its motive."

According to the police, the woman shared a flat with her sister, who left for her native place a week ago. Ogrey was killed while alone in the flat, the police officials reported.

After she stopped responding to calls, her family grew suspicious. Her friends in Mumbai were contacted by her family and asked them to check on her. The doorbell was unanswered, and the apartment was locked from the inside.

The Powai police were informed about the incident. When the cops went to her flat, they found her dead with her throat slit and immediately rushed to the Rajawadi Hospital. The doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The police are also questioning the wife of the accused, who also works as a housekeeper in the same building.
