Guwahati: All India Democratic Front (AIUDF) General secretary Maulana Fazlul Karim Qasmi has been suspended by the party.
The decision comes after Qasmi was arrested by the Assam police over his social media post in support of the Taliban.
AIUDF General Press Secretary Haidar Hussain Bora announced through a press statement that Qasmi has been removed from his current post as General Secretary of the party on a temporary basis by Vice President Awal Majid.
Moreover, the Assam police have arrested 13 more accused in connection with the case.
As per the police, the accused have been booked under different sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, IT Act, and CrPC.
