It is to be noted that alcohol worth Rs 5.97 crore was sold in Guwahati in the last two days with the per day sale being around Rs 2.99 crore.

Digital Desk: Guwahati city witnessed a massive jump in the sale of liquor during Diwali. 

According to reports, nearly Rs 6 crore worth of alcohol was sold during this year's Diwali on October 24 and 25 in Guwahati.

It was noticed that ahead of Diwali (Wednesday), the demand for liquor increased in the city and reached its peak on Thursday evening of the next day.

It is to be noted that alcohol worth Rs 5.97 crore was sold in Guwahati in the last two days with the per day sale being around Rs 2.99 crore.

It may be mentioned that there were also reports that some liquor shops on Thursday operated till late at night past the 10 pm deadline.
