South Salmara-Mankachar: A major scam was reported in the appointment of village-head (Gaon Burha)at Mankachar in South Salmara district of Assam. The disputed numbers constitute a total of 94 village head posts-old including 70 village head posts-old at Mankachar in South Salmara-Mankachar district and 24 village head posts-old in South Salmara. Following the allegations, the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance cell has started an inquiry in the district.
A village head alleged that the under enquiry ADC Saibur Rahman and Atika Sultana had raised lacs of rupees for each rural head post. Saibur Rehman was arrested a few days ago in a case of obtaining more assets than income.

In the recent developments, Atika Sultana was asked to come to the chief minister's vigilance cell at 10 am today. A case is registered bearing number IPC 5/21 in the CM Vigilance cell..
A case was booked in CM Vigilance by a village head (name withheld) after Saibur Rehman was arrested in a land fraud case.
It's being suspected that Atika Sultana is likely to be arrested soon according to the reports.
