Digital desk: Arunachal Pradesh has made history by becoming the first state in the Northeast region to achieve 100% implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), joining the ranks of ten other states across the nation in accomplishing this remarkable feat.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his heartfelt congratulations on reaching the completion of implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission. He praised the Department of Public Health Engineering (PHED). “Given the vast geographical expanse, challenging terrains, and sparsely populated remote villages, this achievement is truly remarkable,” said Khandu.

Reflecting on the progress since the implementation of JJM in 2019, CM Khandu highlighted the significant transformation from a mere 20,989 households having Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) initially to achieving complete coverage across the state.
This achievement underscores the government's commitment to providing clean and safe drinking water to every household, thereby improving the quality of life for its citizens.

The Jal Jeevan Mission is a program launched by the central government, that aims to ensure piped water supply to all rural households by 2024.  As Arunachal Pradesh paves the way for other states in the region to achieve its success, the milestone underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between the central and state governments, as well as the local communities.
