Prasad attacked the Asia Cup organisers harshly after learning about the reserve day, calling the decision "absolutely shameless," "a mockery," and "unethical."

Digital Desk: The Asia Cup 2023's Asian Cricket Council (ACC) decided to keep a reserve day for the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan Super Four match because of the rain concern. Venkatesh Prasad, a former India bowler, criticised the ACC for favouring just one game in the tournament, and he hasn't praised the move. On Sunday, the two bitter adversaries are set to square off in Colombo, but the forecast is bleak with a probability of precipitation of more than 70% for the entire day.

Prasad attacked the Asia Cup organisers harshly after learning about the reserve day, calling the decision "absolutely shameless," "a mockery," and "unethical."

"If true, this is the height of shamelessness. It is unethical to hold a tournament where the regulations are different for the other two teams, and the organisers have made a mockery of the event.

Prasad wrote on the microblogging website X (previously Twitter): "In the name of justice, will only be fair if it is abandoned the first day, may it rain harder on the second day and these malicious plans not succeed."

Chandika Hathurusingha, the head coach of Bangladesh, was not pleased with the decision to allocate a reserve day for only the India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup's Super Four round. He reportedly told Cricbuzz that his team would also appreciate an extra day.

"I'm sure there is a technical committee with six participating nations and each participant country represented. They must have made their decision for some other reason, then. Yes, it isn't perfect. We also would like an additional day. Other than that, I don't have much to say about that because they've already made a choice," Hathurusingha was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
