Digital Desk: As many as two smugglers were arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Siliguri section, and seized Asiatic elephant tusks from their possession, reports said.

According to reports, the Rajdhani Express at the New Jalpaiguri train station was the initial location of the seizure. The tusks are estimated to weigh 7.5 kg.

According to information, based on specific inputs, two people were reportedly stopped by the DRI personnel of the Siliguri Unit at the New Jalpaiguri train station from a Rajdhani Express that was headed for Delhi. The two people have been identified as Ratan Goyala and Suleman Kha, who both reside in Nagaon, Assam. 

According to additional reports, the tusks were supposed to be smuggled into Nepal illegally via the Uttar Pradesh border between India and Nepal. Two cylindrical-shaped, cut-piece elephant tusks from their bag and a conical-shaped one are among the items that were seized.
