In Assam's Goalpara area in May, two women and three members of a family were killed by wild elephants after being trampled to death.

Digital Desk: At least three people, including a child, were killed in a wild elephant attack in Assam’s Goalpara district.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Monday at Kurang village, which is close to Lakhipur along the Assam-Meghalaya border.

The forest authorities claimed that a herd of wild elephants came to the region from Meghalaya's nearby hills area in search of food and attacked the people.

"An elephant attack resulted in the deaths of three people, including a kid.The accident took place along the Assam-Meghalaya boundary," Dhruba Dutta, a forest range officer in Lakhipur said.

Locals claim that wild elephants often enter the region and cause property damage.

One person was attacked by a wild elephant last month in Guwahati's Amching Jorabat area.
