Digital Desk: Droupadi Murmu, The President of India, bestowed the Padma awards to various awardees at a Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hemoprova Chutia (Art), Hem Chandra Goswami (Art), and Ramkuiwangbe Jene (Social Work) were chosen for their accomplishments in the fields of art, social work, and public affairs in Assam.

Moreover, the Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian awards in the country and are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. 

The awards are bestowed in a variety of disciplines/fields of activity, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medical, literature and education, sports, and civil service.

The 'Padma Vibhushan' is given for extraordinary and distinguished service, the 'Padma Bhushan' for distinguished service of a high order, and the 'Padma Shri' for distinguished service in any field. Every year on Republic Day, the prizes are announced.

The President has approved the conferral of 106 Padma Awards for the year 2023, including six Padma Vibhushans, nine Padma Bhushan, and 91 Padma Shri Awards.
