Digital Desk: In a new twist in the case of ASTC staff firings, a passenger bus mysteriously exploded into flames at a depot in Tinsukia district, Assam, on Thursday morning. 

According to reports, the incident occurred as the bus was scheduled to depart for Tezpur this morning but strangely caught fire. Fortunately, no passengers had yet boarded the bus, and no casualties were recorded.

Notably, the incident occurred during protests against the transport service by a number of its former employees who were laid off. The ASTC said on Tuesday that it will lay off up to 771 fraudulently recruited staff.

Furthermore, a group of employees who were affected by the shocking decision gathered at the ASTC headquarters in Guwahati's Paltan Bazar district to protest regarding in need for answers over their sudden firing.
