Meanwhile, India's Ministry of External Affairs announced on June 11 the appointment of senior diplomat Rudra Gaurav Shrestha as the nation's next Ambassador to Turkiye. Shrestha, a distinguished Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer from the 1999 batch, brings extensive experience to this crucial diplomatic posting.
Prior to this appointment, Shrestha served as India's Ambassador to Iran since 2023, demonstrating his expertise in navigating complex geopolitical landscapes. His illustrious career includes diplomatic assignments in several key global locations such as France, Mauritius, Afghanistan, Singapore, and Bhutan. Notably, he also served as India's High Commissioner to Mozambique from 2016 to 2019. Within the Indian government, Shrestha held significant roles in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), first as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in 2022 and subsequently as Joint Secretary from 2020 to 2023. An alumnus of Delhi University's School of Economics, his diverse background is expected to strengthen Indo-Turkish relations.
