This project is a joint effort between Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh Forest and Environment Minister Wanki Lowang.

Digital Desk: In an initiative to strengthen interstate ties with Arunachal Pradesh, the Assam government has taken a significant step towards enriching peace, harmony, and brotherhood. To resolve the long-standing border disputes, both the neighboring states decided to construct a Namghar and Heritage Centre in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.

This project is a joint effort between Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh Forest and Environment Minister Wanki Lowang. The foundation stone of worth Rs 5-crore project was laid by Naharkatia MLA Taranga Gogoi and Arunachal Minister Lowang on January 19, 2024, in Namsang. The first installment of Rs 2 crore was already released for the project.

The Arunachal Pradesh government provided 3 bighas of land for the establishment of the namghar, a traditional place for congregational worship of the Assamese community. Arunachal also took the charge to construct an approach road to the site.

The Namghar project is located in Namsang, just 38 km from Naharkatia of Dibrugarh district, Assam.

The project is closely monitored by the top officials of both states including MLA Taranga Gogoi, Dibrugarh District Commissioner Bikram Kairi, Minister Wanki Lowang, and Zila Parishad Member Wanphoon Lowang, among others.

The 80 Assamese families currently residing in the Deomali area of Tirap expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Sarma for the smooth progress of the project. They welcomed the effort with great joy and affection.
