A team of 5-6 officers conducted the search operation inside the B Agar office of the tourism department and seized key files and a list of candidates who were appointed in the department during the time.

Digital Desk: The Chief Minister's Special Monitoring Cell launched a six-hour-long operation at the Assam Tourism Department office in Guwahati on Friday for an alleged recruitment scam. The vigilance team seized several crucial documents and key files linked to the illegal recruitment process during the year 2010-11 when Congress was in power.

According to reports, the seized documents were packed into a box by the vigilance team for further investigation. A team of 5-6 officers conducted the search operation inside the B Agar office of the tourism department and seized key files and a list of candidates who were appointed in the department during the time.

Rakibul Hussain was the tourism minister of the then Congress-led government. During that time, more than 10 candidates were appointed to the department, which led to the accusations of providing illegal appointments against Rakibul Hussain.

The investigation has been started following a complaint lodged by a government employee. The vigilance team has started summoning all the candidates for questioning who were appointed without a proper recruitment process. A search operation was also carried out at the office of Ranoj Kumar Borkataky, Director of Tourism, Assam.

The Gauhati High Court had already confirmed irregularities in the hiring process. Judicial scrutiny has been underway in the court regarding the recruitment process.
