Digital Desk: Popular Bodo actor and Assam Police Constable Pranjit Narzary was arrested on Thursday for raping a minor girl.
Reportedly, Narzary was apprehended on the basis of a case No 501/22 filed against him at Kokrajhar Police station in the year 2022 under the section 363 Indian Penal Code (IPC) added section 370(I) iv/370 (A)(1), 376 (3) IPC r/w 6 of Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) for raping a minor girl.
Earlier on August 7, a POCSO court in Kamrup district awarded a 20-year prison sentence to a rape accused.
The convict has been identified as Ananta Das, who is accused of raping a 7-year-old girl in 2016.
Das persuaded the victim to accompany him on a walk near the river, where he committed the horrible murder. After becoming aware of the incident, the victim's family members filed a case against the accused at the Pragjyotishpur Police Station.
After seven years, the accused was convicted by a lower court, which sentenced him to 20 years in prison and ordered him to pay a sum of Rs. 1 lakh as compensation to the victim.
