Glasgow witnessed a moment of national pride and a call for geographical accuracy when Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain, hailing from Assam, voiced her concern over a distorted map of India. The incident occurred on August 2 at Mister Singh's India – The Home of Curry, a popular Glasgow eatery, where members of the Indian contingent were hosted following their successful campaign at the Commonwealth Games.
Borgohain drew attention to the paper napkins featuring an outline map of India which conspicuously excluded the entire northeastern part of the nation. "The map on the napkins is missing our Northeast. Every part of India is important and should be represented," Lovlina Borgohain stated, underscoring the significance of accurate representation for all regions.
Her objection quickly garnered support from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) President, Ajay Singh. Singh not only echoed Borgohain's sentiments regarding the Northeast but also highlighted an inaccurate depiction of Jammu & Kashmir on the same map. Calling these errors unacceptable, Singh urged the restaurant management to promptly withdraw the faulty napkins and replace them with ones that accurately represent the complete map of India.
Mister Singh's India, a long-standing establishment in Glasgow known for its hospitality, now faces a call to rectify the geographical oversight. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of precise national representation, especially when hosting international guests.
