Guwahati: Today, the high-voltage Assam by-election is going on in the five constituencies in the state; the same can be seen in the Gossaigaon constituency also.

A total of eight candidates are fighting for the Gossaigaon constituency, including UPPL’s Jiran Basumatary, BPF’s Dhruv Kumar Brahma Narzary, Jewel Tudu from Congress, Khairul Anam Khandkar from AIUDF.

Reportedly, there are 285 polling centers in the Gosaigaon assembly constituency.

In the constituency, a total of 1,90,640 voters will cast their votes, out of which 97672 are men, 92966 are women and 2 are transgender.

The voting process for the by-elections began at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm.

Earlier, the government declared a bandh in all the five constituencies where the by-election is being held.
