Digital Desk: The Assam Cabinet has decided to grant 4% job reservations to persons with benchmark disabilities for direct recruitment to Grade I, II, III and IV posts-old.


The major decision was taken in the State Cabinet meeting held on Saturday under the chairmanship of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.


The initiative is taken in line with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 and the rules were framed by the Government of India in 2017.


Earlier, the benefits of such reservations were limited only to promotion in Grade III and IV posts-old; however, now, it has been extended to all posts-old, including Grade I and II.
