The Assam CID allowed him to leave after six hours of interrogation.

Digital Desk: A well-known financial influencer Abhishek Kar found himself in trouble following a controversial remark on Mayong's tantric practices involving Assamese women in black magic. The Assam CID summoned Kar after his controversial statement, which led to his appearance at the CID office on February 10 with three lawyers, and faced intense questioning over his remarks.

The Assam CID allowed him to leave after six hours of interrogation.

His remarks sparked massive outrage in Assam, initiating action from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In Riya Upreti's podcast, Kar alleged that Assam's Mayong region's women practice black magic to turn humans into goats and back. After the clip circulated online, the famous influencer received sharp criticism.

Taking to X, the Assam Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said, "A video from a YouTube channel, named Riya Upreti, is in circulation where an individual named Abhishek Kar is seen making unacceptable comments on Assam's history and traditions. Appropriate action may be initiated against the said individual for spreading misinformation."

The then Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh replied to the X post of CMO and said, "Noted sir. Lawful action shall be taken."
