Digital Desk: The Assam Police Crime Investigation Department (CID) has summoned about 100 candidates for questioning in connection with the accusation of presenting forged documents during an Assam police recruitment drive.

The state police investigating agency had already begun re-examining the candidatures of applicants who had allegedly submitted false information during their recruitment.

There were around 414 candidates that reportedly provided false information during the recruitment process. A case was filed in connection to it.

The department asked the candidates to resubmit their qualification certificates for re-verification.

Earlier, the candidates in question protested in front of the CID office. They claimed that all the documents they had submitted were genuine and refuted the accusations.

The government had earlier stated that the computer certificates of several candidates who had passed the exams were also found to be suspicious.
