Lovlina Borgohain's victory adds a fourth gold medal to India's tally in the ongoing World Boxing Championship.

Digital Desk: The Assam government announced Rs. 50 lakh reward for ace pugilist Lovlina Borgohain on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced in the Assam Assembly.

The announcement comes after Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain added another feather to her cap on March 26 by winning her first World Championships gold medal.

In the 75kg final of the IBA Women's World Boxing Championship in New Delhi, the Assam boxer defeated two-time Commonwealth Games medalist Caitlin Parker of Australia with a split 5-2 verdict.

Lovlina Borgohain's victory adds a fourth gold medal to India's tally in the ongoing World Boxing Championship.

Earlier in the day, Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen won the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships for the second time in a row, defeating two-time Asian champion Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam.

Nikhat won the 50 kg flyweight final with a unanimous 5-0 decision. After legendary pugilist Mary Kom, Nikhat is now the second Indian female boxer to win multiple gold medals at the World Championships.

Nitu Ghanghas, an ace pugilist, won the gold medal and made history as a world champion in the ongoing Women's World Boxing Championships final on March 25.

In the 48 kg weight class, Nitu Ghanghas defeated Mongolia's Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg by a 5-0 score. Nitu is now the sixth Indian woman to win a world championship.
