Digital Desk: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that a semiconductor plant will be soon set up in the state with an initial investment of Rs 40,000 crore.

While speaking about future investments in the state's power infrastructure, CM Sarma said, "As Assam is reliant on power generation from other states, we are actively exploring solutions to address this issue."

He announced, "Shortly, the state will witness the establishment of a semiconductor plant with a whopping investment of 40,000 crores."

Assam will become less reliant on other regions as this significant investment, promises to bolster Assam's power generation capabilities.

Speaking to the Assembly, CM Sarma remarked that the state only produces 400 MWs of power for Rs 9, hence its domestic tariff is lower than that of other states.

"The usage of power has substantially decreased to 60% across residences where smart meters have been installed, which is actually extremely positive as individuals are now aware and prudent with their use of power", CM further added.
