Digital Desk: During the final Budget session of the Legislative Assembly on February 26, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reproved the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) for allegedly supporting child marriage and continuously opposing the government's efforts to combat this social evil. 
 
Assam's chief minister, who was clearly angry issued a warning to the opposition, which included the AIUDF and Congress to stop shops and businesses from marrying off young girls and boys in the name of child marriage. 

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he would never allow the business of child marriage to take place in the state of Assam till he is alive. "As long as I am alive, we will not allow child marriage in Assam, I want to challenge you all politically before 2026. I will stop the shops and business of child marriage,” Sarma stated in the House on the issue of child marriage.
 
Further, he added, "Think about children, I will not allow 5-6-year-old girls to get married. As long as I am alive, I will not allow child marriage to happen in Assam.” 
 
Additionally targeting Congress, CM Sarma said, "Don't you have any shame? You are speaking in favor of child marriage of 5, 6. 7-year-old children".
