Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma introduced a comprehensive set of measures designed to revitalize the Assamese film industry in a recent announcement on X.

The Assam Budget 2024 reflects a significant commitment to bolstering the local cinema sector, underscoring the government's dedication to showcasing Assamese talent on the global platform.

Notably, the government has allocated 10 lakh rupees to each full-fledged Assamese cinema, offering crucial financial backing to sustain and augment their endeavors. A panel of esteemed judges will oversee the nomination process, ensuring transparency and equity in selecting beneficiaries for government support.

Moreover, the government is prioritizing the welfare of artists and technicians by facilitating their enrollment in the Atal Pension Yojana, covering 50% of their contributions over a five-year period.

Additionally, to strengthen infrastructure, the government plans to infuse 50 lakhs as share capital, grants, or soft loans for every new cinema hall proposed by NGOs, cultural organizations, or the private sector.

These initiatives underscore Assam's unwavering commitment to fostering a vibrant and thriving cinematic landscape, poised to resonate both locally and internationally.
