Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on November 26 the construction of a Lokhiman temple in Karbi Anglong's Dolamara area at a budget of Rs 5 crore to develop Karbi Anglong into a tourism magnet.

CM Sarma highlighted the numerous transformations brought about by the 700-year-old Lokhimon faith created by priest Lokhon Engti Hensek in Bapuram Tokbi hamlet, Dolamara in Assam's Karbi Anglong district during a public assembly at Lokhiman Ashram.

According to Lokhimon believers, there are over 113 Lokhimon ativan (temples) with over 60,000 followers. There are four ashrams in total.

The first is located in No. 2 Dolamara, near Bapuram Tokbi hamlet, the second at Japralangso, the third in Kokila, Arunachal Pradesh, and the fourth in Rongnagar, Bakulia. Dovan Longri Anei is the name of the ashrams.

CM Sarma lauded the preaching and teachings of priest Lokhon Engti Hensek, who was a social reformer who pushed for equal rights for both men and women and taught the message of love and care towards all things, including animals and birds, in addition to being a religious speaker.
