Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been ranked 17th among the most powerful Indians in a poll conducted by The Indian Express.

It should be noted that Sarma is the only individual from Assam to make the list. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the top spot. At the same time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is ranked second.

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was ranked third, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud was ranked fourth, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was ranked fifth. 

Last year, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma was placed 32 on The Indian Express' list of the 100 most powerful leaders.

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is Assam's 15th Chief Minister. On May 10, 2021, he was sworn in as Assam's Chief Minister, following his colleague Sarbananda Sonowal. The Chief Minister of the State was instrumental in putting the state on the path to progress and prosperity.
