CM Sarma said on Twitter that more than 95 bridges crossing different rivers are being built by the state government throughout the state.

Digital Desk: The long-awaited bridge spanning the River Gangadhar in the Dhubri district has been inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday.

The chief minister noted in a statement to reporters that the 25 km-long bridge only managed to reduce travel time by one minute. CM Sarma continued by saying that the current administration has finally agreed to a long-standing local demand of the people of Golakganj, including the entire Dhubri district.

The Chief Minister chose to take the road rather than a helicopter to get to the Golakganj, Dhubri, location of the inauguration ceremony due to the poor weather.

CM Sarma said on Twitter that more than 95 bridges crossing different rivers are being built by the state government throughout the state.

Costing Rs. 73.92 crores, the 682.55-meter-long bridge spans the Gangadhar River between Golakganj and Kanuri. Every day, the bridge will help about 20,000 passengers.

The bridge will assist the neighbourhood and aid in boosting economic activity in the Dhubri District's areas connecting Lakhimari Gaon Panchayat and Golakganj Municipal Area.
