Digital Desk: Another water pipeline burst was reported in Guwahati city on Tuesday. Reportedly, the incident had been reported from the Noonmati area.

According to the information received, the incident occurred today afternoon at Sector 2 in the Noonmati area.

The water supply in the area has been temporarily suspended as a result of the incident, according to the report. 

Meanwhile, the Kamrup Metro District Administration stated that the affected pipeline belonged to the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL).

They added that the situation is now under control and that the water supply has been restored.

A newly installed water pipeline of the Guwahati Jal Board has recently burst near Commerce College Link Road on Rajgarh Road. There were no reports of injuries or fatalities in the incident; however, property worth millions of rupees was damaged.

A month ago, a Gammon JICA water supply mainline pipe burst in Guwahati's Kharguli area. The burst resulted in a huge water gush that damaged at least 40 houses and washed away several vehicles. According to reports, the incident affected over 600 people and injured over 30 people.

The tragedy killed one individual, identified as Sumitra Rabha. She lived in one of the houses that had been flooded. Meanwhile, the injured were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
