Digital Desk: As unrest in Manipur continues, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma denied having any links with the Manipur-based Kuki militant outfit after the opposition Congress made some shocking allegations against him.
The chief minister slammed the Congress, claiming that the party's allegations against him are baseless.
Earlier, Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress President Mira Borthakur Goswami said that a leader of a Kuki militant outfit wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that his group 'aided' the BJP in the 2017 Manipur assembly elections.

"Some baseless allegations have been leveled in recent social media posts-old on cooperation with some Manipur UG (underground) leaders. "It is reiterated that no engagement with such elements exists," CM Sarma said in a statement.
It is important to note that the BJP came to power for the first time in Manipur in 2017.
Meanwhile, Mira Borthakur Goswami filed a memorandum to the state director general of police, requesting a "deeper investigation" into the claims.
According to sources, the chairman of the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF), SS Haokip, wrote a letter to Amit Shah in 2019 saying that Himanta Biswa Sarma and Ram Madhav received help from several Kuki factions to win the 2017 Manipur elections.
UKLF is one of the armed Kuki groups that has been placed on suspension of operations (SoO).
