Guwahati: Assam recorded 1,5799 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking a sharp dip in the number of cases after a spurt in covid cases in the last few days. The active caseload now stands at 19,972 with 16 deaths reported. On the other hand 2,793 cured patients were also discharged taking the positivity rate to 1.62 per cent.
The overall tally of the state has touched 5,55,663.
The new cases were detected out of 97,257 tests conducted in the last 24 hours of which the districts with the highest caseload are Jorhat (185), Kamrup Metro (150), Sonitpur (103). The death tally of the state has surged to 4,828 with a death rate of 0.90 per cent.
