Digital Desk: According to official data from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the devastating floods in Assam have resulted in six additional fatalities over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 24. Among the latest casualties is one individual who succumbed to urban flooding.

Rivers such as the Kopili River in Nagaon district and the Kushiyara River in Karimganj district are currently flowing above the danger level, further exacerbating the flood situation. The rise in water levels continues to intensify the impact of the floods across the state.

The flood has affected over 423,000 individuals in 459 villages across 23 revenue circles within 10 districts. The most severely affected districts include Cachar, Nagaon, Karimganj, Dhemaji, Morigaon, Hojai, Dibrugarh, Dima-Hasao, Hailakandi, and Karbi Anglong West.

Agricultural and livestock sectors have suffered significant losses, with 7,866.08 hectares of cropland inundated and over 202,925 animals affected across 11 flood-hit districts. Relief efforts are underway, with 167 relief camps and 73 distribution centers established to accommodate over 32,872 individuals, in addition to 75,521 non-camp occupants seeking refuge.

Infrastructure damage is evident, with reports of damaged roads in Nagaon and Morigaon districts, and an embankment breach in Cachar district. The state government and disaster management authorities are actively engaged in relief operations, emphasizing the safety and well-being of flood victims.

Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to safety protocols. The government is committed to providing the necessary resources to mitigate the impact of this natural disaster, and residents can seek ongoing updates and assistance from local authorities and relief centers.
