Digital Desk: Nanda Babu Singh, the former principal controller of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) examinations, has been placed in police detention for two days.

Meanwhile, Wahida Begum, the Superintendent of Taxes for the Karbi Anglong district, has been placed in judicial custody for 14 days.

Nanda Babu Singh and Wahida Begum appeared in court today after their two-day police detention ended.

Nanda Babu Singh was detained by the police Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the APSC cash-for-jobs fraud. Begum is also one of those detained in connection with the infamous swindle.

On November 29, Rakesh Das, an Assistant Employment Officer, was detained in connection with the scheme.

Notably, the Assam government has so far suspended 21 civil personnel in connection with the scandal. There are 11 officers from the Assam Police Service (APS), four officials from the Assam Civil Service (ASC), one Excise Inspector, one ARCS officer, and three Assistant Employment Officers.
