CM Sarma announced a top-up of Rs 950 per month per beneficiary under the India Gandhi National Widow Scheme as part of an initiative to improve the quality of life of the widows.

Additionally, as part of a centrally sponsored program under the National Social Assistance Programme, the state government of Assam will provide a monthly top-up of Rs 300 given by the Center to each participant.

Those who are not eligible for coverage under the state-specific Orunodoi scheme will especially benefit from the additional assistance.
