A major turning point in the state's dairy industry has already been reached with the launch of the first commercial product...

Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a comprehensive plan to transform the state's dairy industry. Sarma recently announced plans for establishing milk processing facilities in different districts on Sunday. This statement represents a big step toward the aim of generating 10 lakh liters of milk and providing dairy farmers with fair prices.

The Chief Minister stressed the value of helping regional dairy farmers during his earlier March 2 inauguration of the expanded West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd. dairy factory, also referred to as Purabi Dairy. Sarma expressed great pride in introducing the first batch of Purabi Ice Creams, emphasizing the excellent taste that comes from using milk that is produced locally.

The state's ability to process milk will rise to 1.5 lakh liters with the beginning of the new factory, which is expected to benefit thousands of dairy farmers by improving their access to markets. A major turning point in the state's dairy industry has already been reached with the launch of the first commercial product by the joint venture between the Assam Government and NDDB.

Significant support measures for dairy farmers were also announced by Sarma, including an extra Rs 5 per liter of milk granted by the state government on top of the rates that dairy cooperatives already offer. Additionally, as of March 1, the baseline milk procurement price has risen by Re 1 per liter by WAMUL (West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd.).
