Digital Desk: The state government of Assam has offered a number of promotions for constables in an effort to boost the morale of the police.
Constables will now be qualified for at least three assured promotions. They are Constable to Lance Naik, Lance Naik to Naik and Naik to Havildar/Head Constable.
This decision was made on Tuesday at the Janata Bhawan at the weekly cabinet meeting headed by Assam Chief Minister Sarma.
After eight years of continuous service in a given post, every employee will be eligible for promised promotion to the next higher level in addition to the standard course of promotion, subject to performance and vigilance clearance. By managing their human resources well, law enforcement employees will be better able to provide public service.
The Ration Money Allowance was also increased by the state government, going from followers to inspectors of battalions, the District Executive Force, and organisations like the Uniformed Ministerial Staff, up to Rs 2,500 per person each month. This is intended to increase officers' and staff members' access to a wholesome diet, which will enhance their general performance and effectiveness.
Following are the other significant decisions made during the cabinet meeting:
• Services of lecturers in five polytechnics, including those in Chirang, Hailakandi, Morigaon, Tinsukia, and Udalguri, as well as assistant professors in Dhemaji Engineering College, appointed pursuant to Regulation 3(f) of the Assam Public Service Commission (Limitation of Function) Regulations, 1951, shall be extended for the smooth conduct of technical education.
• Acceptance of the commission's proposal to change the boundaries of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) to include 41 villages from the Biswanath district, as promised in the Memorandum of Settlement signed on January 27, 2022 with various Bodo organisations to examine the inclusion of Bodo villages bordering the BTR. 19 villages will soon be transferred to BTR in next phases.
• The Unity Mall (Ekta Mall), which will be built at the Assam Trade Promotion Organisation complex in Betkuchi for a cost of Rs 226 crores, will be used to promote national integration, the "Make in India" movement, and the "One District, One Product" (ODOP) idea.
• Discussions regarding proposed rules for Mukhya Mantri Atmanirbhar Asom's initiative to create jobs through the launch of entrepreneurial ventures.
