Digital Desk; In yet another case of corruption by a government employee, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption cell's sleuths set a trap in Rangia, Assam, and caught an employee red-handed after he accepted demanded money from the complainant on Thursday.

Initial reports claim that Jyotirmoy Baruah, the alleged government official, demanded a bribe from the complainant in exchange for helping to get her relative selected as an Anganwadi worker.

Jyotirmoy Baruah worked at the Tamulpur-based Nagrijuli ICDS project as a junior assistant.

A laid was caught by the anti-corruption team after being trapped near the Axis Bank of Rangia Branch, said sources.

The anti-corruption cell posted on the account's official page, saying, “Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM laid a trap in Rangia and caught red-handed Jyotirmoy Baruah, Jr Asstt, Nagrijuli ICDS project, Dist Tamulpur after he accepted a bribe for helping the complainant in getting her relative selected as Anganwadi worker.”


Earlier, a Lat Mandal in the Lakhimpur district was arrested under graft charges for demanding money. The Lat Mandal, identified as Hemendra Bora, is a worker in the Lakhimpur district's Tinikunia.

The accused allegedly demanded Rs. 1 for processing the namjari of an applicant who applied for land mutation.

It was discovered that Bora initially paid 50% of the demanded amount by UPI, and later, when he was en route to pay another 50%, the police arrested him on charges of bribery.
