Digital Desk: The Assam government has agreed to raise the pay of master roll, casual workers, and work-charged employees hired by the state government in order to provide them with a more significant financial benefit. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated this on Monday.

CM Sarma stated at a news conference, "Today we have decided to enhance the wage of casual staff by 3%."

The announcement came after casual employees demanded a yearly compensation increase of at least 3%.

This decision will help over 13,000 casual employees, master roll, and work charges.

It may be recalled that in 2018, the then state's Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma remarked, "The average remuneration of these master role workers used to be between Rs 3000 to Rs 6.000 per month. However, once they are on the pay scale system, their average monthly compensation will be around Rs 18,000."

Later that year, in 2022, the state government raised the daily duty allowance from Rs. 300 to Rs. 767
