Digital Desk: On May 8, the Assam Cabinet presided over a cabinet meeting and made an array of decisions, including allowing a second entrance to the Guwahati Railway Station and waiving property registration fees for ex-servicemen and their families.

In recognition of the sacrifices made by ex-servicemen in the service of the nation, the state government of Assam has approved a 75% exemption of registration fees for ex-servicemen or spouses of deceased ex-servicemen acquiring one residential property (either land, land+house, or flat) once in a lifetime.

A total of 11,000 individuals will profit from this scheme, with 9,000 already benefiting and the remaining 2,000 receiving from next year onwards.

The cabinet also resolved to give one month of specialized training for SCS (State Civil Service) officers through the LBSNAA, Mussoorie's 'Parvatmala Programme'.

Meanwhile, the Government of Assam will sign an MoU with the National Forensic Science University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, to establish an off-site campus of NFSU near Changsari in North Guwahati, which will function in the interim from a Transit campus in Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
