Digital Desk: A tragic incident has unfolded in Arunachal Pradesh, where Siddhartha Chetia, an Assamese man and former Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, was brutally murdered.
Siddhartha had served the BSF for eight years along the India-Bangladesh border before returning home due to health issues.
After leaving the force, he began working as a carpenter in Arunachal Pradesh to support his family.
A resident of Baruati Dapathar village under Silapathar police station, Siddhartha traveled to Daporijo in Arunachal Pradesh on October 26 for work and planned to return home on November 26 for his nephew's wedding.
However, during his time there, a dispute reportedly arose with his employer, Raju Dubey.
On the same day, Siddhartha called his family, expressing fear for his life and revealing that his employer had threatened to kill him. Tragically, he went missing soon after. His family filed a missing person report at the Sisiborgaon police outpost.
Following an investigation led by the Dhemaji District Superintendent of Police, Siddhartha's decomposed body was discovered near his workplace. The family and local organisations have accused Raju Dubey, his employer, of being responsible for the murder.
Siddhartha, the sole breadwinner of his family, leaves behind a grieving wife and a specially-abled daughter.
The Tai Ahom Students' Union has demanded a thorough investigation, the arrest of the accused, and justice for bereaved family. They have also warned of an indefinite economic blockade against Arunachal Pradesh if their demands are not met.
The incident has sparked outrage and tension across the region, with calls for swift action to ensure justice for the victim and his family.
