Both the CM convened the CM-Level meeting at the State Guest House in Khanapara...

Digital Desk: The Chief Minister's Level Talk is scheduled to take place on Saturday in Guwahati as the discussion over the border between Meghalaya and Assam continues.

Conrad K. Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya, and Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, convened the CM-Level meeting at the State Guest House in Khanapara, Assam, at 11 a.m.

This meeting signifies the beginning of the second round of discussions between the two chief ministers to address the ongoing border talks between the two states. This comes after the formation of the Regional Committees from the two states, each of which has already held its meeting.

Six of the 12 contested areas were successfully negotiated and settled during the first phase, which involved the two states.

The agreement was achieved in March in New Delhi during a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The regions that have been resolved number 36.79 square kilometers and include Tarabari, Hahim, Pilangkata, Khanapara, Ratacheera, and Gijang.

However, the second phase involves areas that are considered to be more "complicated." Langpih, Borduar, Nongwah-Mawtamur, Desh Doomreah, Block 1 & Block II, and Psiar-Khanduli are the six remaining regions of disagreement. These issues remain to be the focus for continued discussions between the two states.
