In a significant move to intensify the fight against narcotics, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) recently concluded its Second Quarter State-Level Joint Coordination Committee Meetings for 2026. Convened earlier this week, the crucial deliberations took place in Guwahati for Assam and Bhopal for Madhya Pradesh, bringing together a consortium of enforcement agencies, officials confirmed on Friday.
The primary objective of these high-level meetings was to refine and strengthen coordinated strategies aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks and enhancing intelligence sharing mechanisms. Discussions reportedly focused on several critical areas, including improving joint interrogations, conducting thorough financial investigations to trace illicit funds, executing synchronized enforcement operations, and ultimately, dismantling drug cartels operating across state lines.
Officials from various participating agencies reaffirmed their collective commitment to realizing the vision of a "Drug-Free India." The meetings saw broad participation from key national and state bodies. For instance, in the Bhopal meeting, it was jointly chaired by the NCB Deputy Director General (Western Region) and the Additional Director General of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) for Madhya Pradesh. Representatives from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB), Income Tax Department, Customs, Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Railway Protection Force (RPF), State Prosecution Department, Food and Drug Administration, and State Excise Department were also present.
During the sessions, concrete plans were firmed up for the rigorous implementation of the Vision Document on Narcotics Control. Agencies also pledged to proactively address emerging drug trafficking trends prevalent in their respective regions, underscoring a unified approach to tackle the evolving challenges posed by illicit drug trade.
