Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati on Monday to inspect the ongoing renovation work, as the state government has decided to convert the facility to a 50,000-seat capacity venue with the goal of hosting national and international sports events in the future.

Reportedly, the renovation work is almost complete, which shows a significant advancement in enhancing sports infrastructure in the state.

The renovated Nehru Stadium will help promote athletics and facilitate the hosting of key events.

The state government is also actively considering a restoration plan for the Jorhat Stadium as part of a wider scheme, indicating a willingness to upgrade sports facilities throughout Assam.
