Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed concern about the safety of the Covishield vaccine during a news conference on Friday that followed an election rally for UPPL candidate Joyanta Basumatary. He affirmed the vaccine's effectiveness and refuted opposing assertions.

Sarma stated, "It is important to know that the Covishield vaccine has been thoroughly tested and has demonstrated minimal to no side effects,".

He shared his own experience of getting the vaccination and being healthy.

The Chief Minister highlighted the vaccine's overall safety profile and highlighted recent studies that show a rare occurrence of adverse effects within six weeks following inoculation.

"Rare instances of adverse effects have been observed, but they are extremely uncommon and should not deter individuals from receiving the vaccine," Sarma stated.

"The benefits of vaccination far outweigh any potential risks, and it is imperative that we continue to prioritize public health by availing ourselves of this crucial tool in the fight against Covid-19," Sarma stated.
