Digital Desk: The Government Railway Police (GRP) seized a big amount of suspected opium from inside a train at Guwahati railway station on Tuesday night.


The recovered heroin, weighing approximately 4.89kg, is valued at around Rs 25 lakh on the international market.


According to reports, the heroin was retrieved from an abandoned bag on the train. More investigation is being carried further by the GRP.


On the same day, two people were arrested at the Guwahati railway station for possessing a big amount of gold.


Based on intelligence, a police team led by OC Prosenjit Das conducted an operation and apprehended the couple off the Tezwas Express train at the railway station.


The gold, weighing 1 kg and 3 grammes, was discovered inside a packet owned by the two accused.


The seized gold is expected to be worth roughly Rs 60 lakh.


According to reports, the two intended to carry the gold from Manipur to Delhi in order to sell it.
