Digital Desk: In lieu of the celebration Ali-Aye-Ligang, a local holiday has been declared in Assam's Lakhimpur district on February 15 (Wednesday).

The day has been declared a local holiday by the district magistrate of Lakhimpur.

All government and semi-government offices will be closed on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the district magistrate. In addition, all educational institutions, commercial establishments, and banks will be closed tomorrow.

Ali-Aye-Ligang, also known as Ali-Ai-Ligang, is a spring agricultural festival held by the Mising community of Assam on the occasion of the start of Ahu paddy production.
The event is held on the first Wednesday of the month of 'Fagun'.
