The animal's carcass was found near the Maklung forest camp in the Agoratoli Forest Range...

Digital Desk: Assam police arrested a poacher from the Golaghat district of Assam on Friday.

The police claim that they discovered a rhino horn from an accused identified as Joggu Pegu.

This follows the beginning of a search and rescue effort following the poaching of a female rhino in Kaziranga National Park in Assam on January 21.

The animal's carcass was found near the Maklung forest camp in the Agoratoli Forest Range.

Pegu was also apprehended from Mohuramukh in the Bokakhat area of Golaghat based on certain intelligence, and the rhino horn that had been buried in his home's backyard was seized.

It is believed that the rhino was killed on January 21st evening, and on January 22nd morning, forest workers found the body during a routine patrol.

Senior Assam Forest Department officers arrived at the scene to investigate the incident.
